CBD, short for cannabidiol, features often in the news. It is one of many compounds in weed plants, one belonging to the family of cannabinoids. Recently, a small study found evidence that CBD capsules and other lab-tested CBD oil products could give patients relief from fibromyalgia and its awful symptoms. Since this untreatable condition still baffles the medical community, such findings are welcome.
Published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine, this review proved CBD highly effective at relieving the extreme intensity of fibromyalgia-related pain. Turns out, CBD is so powerfully analgesic that it works for all types of pain. Back in 2018, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave CBD its approval for treating epilepsy. However, they are yet to approve its use for other conditions.
Despite this, results are promising. Research is continual. CBD is now legal under the Farm Bill of 2018, so there are no restrictions anymore for its study. It is incredibly popular for the treatment of a myriad of diseases, with fibromyalgia just one among them. Many, many, many studies show CBD quite capable of relieving pain effectively, and it does so without causing any dangerous side effects or addictions.
CBD is but one cannabinoid in cannabis. There are many others too, all with medicinal promise, yet none more so than CBD. CBD is the most valuable cannabinoid of all, responsible for many of the positive health effects associated with hemp use. CBD capsules, tinctures, and oils are highly concentrated. As such, they are even more effective when dosed accordingly for medical use, with no smoking necessary.
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the most famous cannabinoid, loved for its psychoactive effects, those associated with marijuana use. In contrast, since CBD does not have psychoactive properties, it does not make anybody stoned. In fact, it actually counteracts the “high” of THC. For those who do not want the buzz, lab-tested CBD oil products provide the best and most effective solution available for fibromyalgia.
To date, not many studies analyzed the effects of CBD specifically on fibromyalgia. While studies are underway, scientists have yet to learn just why CBD works as well as it does in reducing symptom severity and frequency. Theories abound. Controversy also exists in debating why CBD works better for some than it does for others. Many questions and even fewer answers.
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the way that CBD affects the brain might explain its painkilling effects. Studies suggest that CBD disrupts the neural pathways that are responsible for transmitting pain signals between the brain and body. What is more, the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD also act to relieve pain, along with reducing swelling and heat in areas affected.
Some debate exists over whether CBD is more effective combined with other cannabinoids or on its own. According to Science Direct, a study conducted back in 2006 showed how cannabinoids influence each other, actually boosting medical benefit when used simultaneously. Called the “entourage effect,” combining cannabinoids offers even more health benefits than just CBD alone. It still works, though.
Another study, this one published on Liebert, Inc., suggests that a lack of naturally occurring neurotransmitters, called endocannabinoids, might be the cause of severe pain problems, such as fibromyalgia. The study made clear that lab-tested CBD oil products seem actually to fix this problem, this deficiency. This might well explain how CBD works so effectively against pain in its worst forms.
Patients themselves testify to the effectiveness of CBD capsules and other products in treating fibromyalgia and its symptoms. Anecdotal evidence exists aplenty, with folks swearing it works. Now, studies confirm these reports, proving at the molecular level just how CBD changes the way the body processes pain. Extensive study is underway. Scientists want to know the mechanisms of action at play.
Prior to intensive scrutiny on the healing potential of hemp, studies always focused on medical cannabis instead of isolating CBD specifically. Now that studies are focusing on CBD itself, findings are emerging almost every day with new benefits discovered by using it. CBD enhances sleep, relieves pain, and it also treats refractory pain in those enduring a myriad of diseases.
CBD exists in marijuana for those consuming it, but for those using CBD alone, it exists in higher concentrations. In the past, several limitations hindered study into CBD. Studies then were often too small, frequently conflicting. Some compared no placebos; others recorded no symptoms experienced. Some did not measure objectively, while prohibition has always made study very difficult.
We do know it works. More and more, studies are uncovering groundbreaking new results, despite issues faced sourcing hemp, or even CBD on its own, in the past. Previous data is inconclusive, but new data is revolutionizing medical care for patients with severe and chronic disorders, such as fibromyalgia. CBD is proving so promising in giving relief that it is building an entirely new medical industry.
Back in 2015, one particular study analyzed the effect of using cannabinoids in treating chronic pain. It did not focus on fibromyalgia, but according to the Journal of Neuroimmune Pharmacology, which reviewed 11 different studies and found seven providing concrete evidence of CBD relieving pain effectively in more patients than not. It worked for most, and it worked very well.
Then, also in 2015, the Journal of the American Medical Association also published a review, this one investigating results for 28 different randomized and clinically controlled trials into using cannabis for pain relief. Again, results were astounding, confirming all previous results before it: The review found undoubtable evidence that supports the effectiveness of CBD in relieving the worst kinds of pain.
Evidence is mounting in staggering numbers showing much potential for lab-tested CBD oil products in treating fibromyalgia. Patients admit it works. You can buy hemp oil almost anywhere these days, even online. Simply search “CBD delivery services near me” for those servicing your area. Just be sure to check their credentials before parting with your money. Not all CBD oil is lab tested. Fakes abound.
